The Association was born in 2013 on the initiative of Claire BRISSET, Defender of children's rights then Mediator of the City and Department of Paris from 2008 to 2014. The AMCT brings together a dense and diversified network of Mediators in local authorities .

The association pursues four objectives defined in its statutes:

> Promote institutional mediation with local authorities

> Develop the sharing of experiences between members, more generally, contribute to the dissemination and development of mediation practices

​

>Become a professional reference and support structure, offering multiple services to its members

​

> Build active partnerships with other mediation structures
