Thematic 1: Mediation as a lever in the fight against discrimination and for equality
In the fight against discrimination, mediation is one of the options chosen by a number of equality bodies to provide answers to the people who turn to them. The plenary session, which will bring together bodies from Belgium, France, Quebec and Colombia, will provide an opportunity for an initial discussion on the strengths and limitations of the use of mediation, in the broadest sense, in discrimination cases. What institutional strategies have been implemented in this area, for what types of discrimination situations?

Thematic 1: Mediation as a lever in the fight against discrimination and for equality
Acting in mediation as close as possible to victims of discrimination in the Loire region. The joint intervention of the Défenseur des droits and its institutional and association partners is aimed at preventing and remedying discriminatory practices at local level. The aim is to enable the people concerned and those who support them to become better acquainted with non-discrimination law and to be informed of the various levers for action available, in particular mediation, but also to reveal systemic differences in treatment in order to prevent them more effectively. The aim of this round table is to discuss the inspiring schemes put in place in the region, to gain a better understanding of the role of mediation in this area, what it can do for the people concerned and to compare the views of these different partners.

Thematic 2: Mediation, a lever for companies to use to overcome crises
Global upheaval, the health crisis and international competition have been impacting the company for several years. The tensions it is undergoing are hardening commercial relations, the Quality of Life and Working Conditions. Can mediation help to prevent and calm corporate disputes, whether at work or in the commercial sphere, and facilitate the amicable resolution of differences that arise in the day-to-day life of organisations? Does mediation in the service of companies have a place in the future in the development of social peace and projects, and in the improvement of human relations in order to respond positively to today's human and economic challenges?

At a time when companies are facing a multiplicity of crises - economic, financial, social, environmental - the practice of mediation offers them far richer and more beneficial feedback than litigation, and the possibility of turning pitfalls into development opportunities.

Thematic 1: Mediation as a lever in the fight against discrimination and for equality
Discrimination can occur at any stage of a person's working life: in access to training, a work placement, a job, in employment or at the end of an employment relationship. Long seen as an issue that naturally lends itself to litigation, discrimination is increasingly being addressed through mediation. As well as being a way of resolving disputes, mediation is also seen as a means of changing practices. Bringing together legal practitioners, academics and employer representatives, this round table will provide an opportunity to discuss professional practices and the possibilities and limits of mediation in situations of discrimination in employment.
